PIERCING CARE GUIDE
PREPARING FOR YOUR PIERCING APPOINTMENT
DO’s
• Delay your piercing if you have active skin conditions (acne, eczema, irritation) near the piercing site. Wait until the condition clears or until your doctor gives approval to proceed.
• Have a hearty meal about an hour before your appointment and stay well-hydrated. This helps your body handle the piercing and promotes healing.
• Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the piercing area and won’t rub against it afterward.
• Choose a studio and piercer where you feel safe and comfortable—a clean, welcoming environment with friendly staff who are happy to accommodate your needs.
• Bring the correct amount of cash or use E-Transfer for payment.
• Relax, ask any questions you have, and trust your piercer’s advice—they are trained to ensure the best possible experience and result for you.
DO NOT’s
• Avoid drugs or alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment, especially on the day itself.
• If you feel unwell or are getting sick, please reschedule your appointment. It’s important for both you and our team.
• Do not come in with sunburn or irritation near the piercing site—please contact us to reschedule.
• Limit your support group to one friend to minimize distractions during your appointment.
• Never skip meals before your appointment—this helps prevent feeling lightheaded or faint.
• Don’t schedule important commitments immediately after your appointment—give yourself time to relax and begin the healing process.
• Please don’t negotiate prices. Piercing is a professional service, and quality work comes at a cost. If needed, save up before booking.
First Wash:
Once you are home, gently rinse your piercing using a sterile saline spray or by applying sterile saline to a clean sterile pad (such as a saline wipe or sterilization pad). Hold the moistened pad on the piercing for 1–2 minutes to loosen any dried fluid or debris. Rinse with warm (not hot) water in the shower to flush out any residue. Pat the area dry with a clean, disposable paper towel or another fresh sterile pad—never use cloth towels. Note: Avoid using alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, ointments, or bar soap, as they can irritate or damage your piercing.
Every Wash:
• Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your piercing.
• Clean the piercing 2–3 times daily using sterile saline solution. Either spray directly or apply the saline with a sterile saline pad or clean saline wipe, making sure to clean both front and back. Allow it to air dry, or gently pat dry with a disposable paper towel or fresh pad.
• In the shower, rinse the area gently with warm water to remove any buildup. Do not rotate or twist the jewelry. For the next several weeks to months (depending on the piercing type), continue this cleaning routine consistently to promote proper healing.
DO’s
• Always wash your hands before touching your piercing—keep it clean!
• Clean your piercing 2–3 times daily with sterile saline solution.
• Wear clean clothes and use fresh bedding to prevent bacteria exposure.
• Allow any crusting or discharge to come off naturally—don’t force it.
• Sleep on your opposite side or back to avoid pressure on the piercing.
• Come back for a check-in or downsizing appointment if recommended by your piercer.
• Don’t hesitate to ask your piercer any questions during the healing process.
DO NOT’s
• Do not touch your piercing without washing your hands first.
• Avoid letting anyone else touch your fresh piercing.
• Never pick, twist, or rotate the jewelry.
• Refrain from wearing tight clothing or accessories that may rub against the piercing.
• Keep your piercing out of direct sunlight for at least the first two weeks.
• Avoid soaking your piercing—this includes baths, hot tubs, pools, oceans, or lakes.
• Do not remove your jewelry prematurely—even brief removal can cause the piercing to close.
